Your Baby Week By Week
Your unique baby will develop according to their very own blueprint. However, there are some typical stages which most full-term babies will progress through around the same age. Babies born pre-term will often reach the same stage when we adjust their age to gestational age.
Parents are often challenged at similar stages: as breastfeeding is established, as sleep evolves and changes, as crying and unsettledness occur.
So here we have gathered information you might find useful around about the stage you might need it.
Welcome to your baby, week by week .
Week 32: Emotions in Motion
At 32 weeks — about 7½ months old — your baby is discovering not just what they can do, but how it feels to do it. Emotion is now threaded through every action: joy, frustration, surprise, determination, and delight.
Their body is on the move, their mind is curious, and their heart is deeply tied to you. They might reach out when you leave the room, crawl toward you with urgency, or beam when you return. This week is a dance between bold exploration and the need for secure connection.
Week 31: Standing Tall (Almost)
At 31 weeks — nearly eight months old — your baby may be on the verge of one of their most exciting transitions: vertical exploration. Whether they’re pulling to stand, testing their balance, or simply rising up on hands and knees to rock, this week is all about elevation — physically, emotionally, and developmentally.
You’ll likely see a confident, cheeky baby who wants to move, grab, climb, and do it themselves. And in the next breath? A baby who melts into your arms for comfort. This push and pull between independence and connection is the foundation of secure attachment — and it’s unfolding beautifully.
Week 30: The World Within Reach
At 30 weeks old — almost seven months — your baby is stretching out in every way: reaching, rolling, crawling, and connecting. Their curiosity is matched only by their determination, and their favourite experiment is… everything.
This is a stage of active discovery. Your baby is realising that they can get to the things they want — and that those things have qualities to explore. Soft, hard, crinkly, noisy, squishy, shiny — each texture teaches something new. And of course, everything still ends up in their mouth.
They’re not just exploring objects — they’re exploring independence, confidence, and trust in the world around them.
Week 29: Curious, Capable, and Clingy
At 29 weeks — just over six and a half months — your baby may feel like a bundle of contradictions: fiercely independent one minute, deeply clingy the next. That’s because they’re right in the middle of a developmental leap that brings new awareness — and with it, new needs.
They’re exploring the world with growing skill and confidence… while also realising how big and sometimes overwhelming that world really is. It’s okay if they need extra reassurance right now. You’re their safe base — and they’re checking in to make sure it’s still there.
Week 28: Moving With Purpose
[⚠️ Suspicious Content] At 28 weeks — just past six and a half months — your baby is beginning to act with intention. They’re not just reacting to their surroundings anymore; they’re making decisions, initiating actions, and seeking interaction with clear purpose.
Everything is more deliberate now — from how they reach and grasp, to how they babble and wait for your reply. You may find yourself thinking: you really know what you want, little one. And you're right.
This week is all about motivation, mobility, and deepening emotional connection.
Week 27: The Learning Loop
At 27 weeks, your baby is deep in a cycle of try, test, repeat. They are learning with intensity and joy — not just by watching, but by doing. Every action is a lesson. Every repetition is a rehearsal. And every response from you reinforces their understanding of the world.
This week, you may feel like your baby is constantly practicing — whether it's making the same sound over and over, reaching for the same toy, or insisting on dropping things from their highchair again (and again). It’s not just play. It’s how their brain builds connections.
Week 26: Halfway to One
Your baby is now 26 weeks old — exactly halfway to their first birthday.
It’s a moment that often brings reflection. You’ve spent six full months learning one another, growing together, and building the secure foundation your baby now stands (or sits) on. So much has changed… and yet, it’s still the same relationship that began the moment you met.
This week brings more signs of physical strength, emotional sensitivity, and cognitive leaps. There’s joy, challenge, and constant movement — both yours and theirs.
Week 25: Stronger Every Day
At 25 weeks, your baby is more physically capable, emotionally expressive, and socially tuned in than ever before. They’re no longer content to simply watch the world go by — they want to reach, grasp, taste, and respond to it.
This week is often filled with energy, exploration, and louder communication. You may feel like your baby is on the brink of something new — because they are.
Week 24: Half a Year of You
Twenty-four weeks. Six months. Half a year of knowing, growing, responding, and becoming.
This week marks a significant milestone — not just for your baby, but for you. You've shared half a year of feeds, naps, tears, giggles, cuddles, learning curves, and love. It’s worth celebrating, however quietly you choose to mark it.
Your baby is changing quickly now. Their movements are more purposeful, their communication more expressive, and their social understanding more sophisticated. This is the start of a new phase: no longer a newborn, not yet a toddler — but fully themselves.
Week 23: Emotion, Motion, and Meaningful Moments
At 23 weeks old, your baby is a blend of movement, emotion, and emerging awareness. They may laugh harder, protest louder, and seek you out more deliberately. Every day seems to bring more complexity — in how they move, communicate, and relate.
This week is about emotional depth, motor development, and the beginnings of meaningful memory. You’re not just raising a baby — you’re witnessing a person beginning to take shape.
Week 22: Stronger, Louder, Closer
Your 22-week-old baby is starting to feel like a little person with big opinions. They’re louder, more physically capable, and increasingly aware of relationships — especially their connection to you.
This week is full of volume, motion, and growing attachment. You may find your baby becoming more predictable in some ways… and more unpredictable in others!
Week 21: Reaching, Rolling, and Recognising
At 21 weeks old, your baby is growing more coordinated, more curious, and more socially aware by the day. They’re rolling more confidently, reaching with intention, and tuning in to the world in increasingly sophisticated ways.
You might feel like your baby is suddenly everywhere — not quite mobile, but never still. This week is full of movement, experimentation, and connection.
Week 20: Sitting Strong, Feeling Big
At 20 weeks, your baby is starting to look — and act — less like a newborn and more like a small, determined little person. Their body is stronger, their gaze is more focused, and their feelings? Big. Very big.
This week is all about growing confidence in movement, new depths of emotion, and an expanding awareness of their environment — and yours. It’s an exciting and often intense time.
Week 19: Rolling, Reaching and Routines
Your baby is becoming more mobile, more aware, and more interactive — and you’re probably finding your rhythm too. Around 19 weeks, many babies are experimenting with rolling in both directions, reaching for everything in sight, and showing clearer signs of tiredness, hunger, or overstimulation.
Week 18: Busy Brain, Big Feelings
At 18 weeks old, your baby is deep in a period of rapid neurological development. Their brain is growing at an extraordinary pace — processing sounds, building language pathways, coordinating movement, and learning social cues. As a result, this week often brings a mix of delightful new skills and a sudden uptick in emotional sensitivity.
Week 17: Building Strength and Finding Their Voice
Your baby is now 17 weeks old, and you may be noticing a whole new level of liveliness. They’re louder, stronger, more deliberate in their movements — and definitely more opinionated! This week is all about discovery, self-expression, and connection. It’s also a time when many babies seem to shift gears again, becoming more vocal, mobile, and aware of the world.
Week 16: Rolling Into New Skills
Your baby is now 16 weeks old — and if they haven’t already, they’re likely about to master one of their first major motor milestones: rolling. This week often brings a noticeable leap in strength, alertness, and movement. You might find yourself needing to update your daily rhythm (and your floor setup!) as your baby becomes more active and engaged with their surroundings.
Week 15: Exploring the World
Your baby is now 15 weeks old, and each day brings new discoveries. Their growing awareness of the world around them is evident in their movements, sounds, and interactions. This week is about embracing these changes and supporting your baby's development with love and patience.
Week Fourteen: Beginning to Blossom
Your baby is now 14 weeks old — and there’s a quiet shift underway. The sleepy haze of the newborn weeks is lifting, and in its place is a baby who is wide-eyed, responsive, and deeply curious about the world around them. You might feel like you're getting to know them all over again.
Week Thirteen: The end of the 4th Trimester
As your baby turns three months old, we mark the end of this period informally known as The 4th Trimester. This gentle introduction to life outside the womb has supported your baby through this most vulnerable period. Like a bridge between womb and world, they are now more ready to begin exploring the world.
