Feeling Overwhelmed by Woven Wraps? You’re Not Alone
If you've ever picked up a woven wrap and felt like you were handling a giant, unruly scarf — you're not alone. Many parents tell us they feel "all fingers and thumbs" the first time they try to wrap. The good news? This is completely normal.
Learning to use a woven wrap is a bit like learning to tie your shoelaces. At first, it feels awkward and confusing, and you might wonder if you'll ever get it right. But just like those first wobbly attempts at tying shoes, it gets easier with practice. Over time, your hands learn the motions, your confidence grows, and eventually, it becomes second nature. Check out this progress between first baby and third baby!
The wonderful thing about woven wraps is that you only need to learn one technique to get started — just one! A simple front carry is all you need to safely and comfortably carry your baby. Once you feel confident, you can choose to explore more advanced carries if you like, but there is no need to rush.
It’s important to be gentle with yourself during this learning curve. You don’t have to be perfect straight away. Take your time, go slowly, and remember that every attempt is building your skills.
We've put together a collection of Woven Wrap Tips and Techniques on our website to help guide you step by step. You’ll find videos, detailed instructions, and friendly advice to support you as you learn.
If you'd like extra hands-on help, come and see us at one of our market events. You can also connect with a local babywearing educator or consultant, or join a babywearing group in your area. Remember: you’re not alone, and you can do this. Just like tying your shoes, it simply takes a bit of patience and practice — and soon enough, you’ll be wrapping with confidence.
